Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

P R I M A R Y P U R P O S E:

Serve on student appraisal team to appraise intellectual factors, educational functions, the
collection and analysis of appraisal data pertaining to sociological variables and the
comprehensive appraisal of the emotional and/or behavioral factors.

Identify methods for collecting and using emotional, social, and academic performance measures,
so that these methods may be used for program accountability and program improvement.

Establish programs to encourage higher attendance and higher success rates for student
performance.

Provide educational programs that strengthen parenting skills.

Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Certification by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a licensed specialist in
school psychology.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of the individual needs of special needs persons.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their parents.
Extensive knowledge in diagnostic and assessment instruments.
