Primary Purpose:
Administers individual psychological/educational assessments, develops reports, and interprets results; provides individual psychological services for eligible students.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification
- Master's degree required
- Ph.D. preferred
- Valid Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
- Texas License as a psychologist or working toward licensure
Experience
- Experience preferred; however, successful completion of internship acceptable
- Three (3) years of experience in a Texas public school setting
- Experience with the admission, review, and dismissal process

- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conducts Comprehensive Individual Psycho-Educational Evaluations for referrals and three-year re-evaluation within timelines as prescribed by law.
- Provides leadership to the campus in the Pre-Referral Process, ARD Process, Child Find procedures and Confidentiality of Student Records.
- Conducts in-service training and consultative services to general education and special education teachers.
- Provides leadership in the development and monitoring of individual student behavior improvement plans.
- Provides leadership to the campus multidisciplinary evaluation in the placement process.
- Conducts student observations in the general education and special education classrooms.
- Provides direct services to students eligible for psychological services as a related service.
- Provides parents’ progress reports related to students’ identified I.E.P. goals and objectives on a six weeks basis.
- Maintains current knowledge regarding research, development and technology in the field of individual evaluation relating to student eligibility for special education services.
Other Related Duties:
- Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participates in professional development, department meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools and Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds), occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory students
Environment: Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; districtwide and occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure
