The Tarleton Center for Child Well-being is looking for a dedicated professional to support the mental health and development of children and families through expert clinical care and outreach. This position will provide psychological, psycho-educational, and/or neuropsychological testing for children and adolescents. May conduct multiculturally competent mental health counseling and outreach to children and families in the clinical setting, provide training seminars and professional expertise. They may supervise assigned student trainees and provide clinical supervision to student interns if they are appropriately licensed. Per state licensure requirements, the psychologist will participate in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in their specialty area.
This is a 10-month per year (August 1 - May 31) in-office position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Working hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm or as work requirements indicate. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
*One position is available, with consideration for candidates across four different levels: Licensed Psychological Associate, Psychologist I, II, and III.*
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
100% Clinical Service Provision
Direct psychological activities and programs
Conduct psychological evaluations
Diagnose and counsel clients, provide consultation and training on conducting therapy sessions, and conduct psychological research
May supervise assigned student trainees and provide clinical supervision to student interns if appropriately licensed
The psychologist should be able to work under minimal supervision while serving the needs of the client population
Per state licensure requirements, the psychologist will participate in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in their specialty area.
Future duties such as: evaluating and pursuing opportunities for research, grant acquisition, and instruction may be considered.
Education and Experiences:
Licensed Psychological Associate:
A graduate degree in psychology, consisting of at least sixty semester credit hours, with no more than twelve hours of practicum, internship, or structured experience counted toward the total degree hour requirement
Demonstrate proof of graduate-level coursework required in 463.8(a)(4) by identifying courses/training listed on the applicant’s transcript
Six semester credit hours of practicum, internship, or other structured experience within the graduate degree program, while under the supervision of a licensed psychologist
Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology
Passage of the Jurisprudence Examination.
Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists License as a Psychological Associate
Psychologist I
A doctoral degree in psychology
Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology as required by the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Passage of the Jurisprudence Examination
A minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience received in a formal internship within a doctoral program
Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists License as a Psychologist, or License in Progress
Psychologist II:
A doctoral degree in psychology
Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology as required by the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Passage of the Jurisprudence Examination
A minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience received in a formal internship within a doctoral program
A minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience received following the conferral of a doctoral degree

Psychologist III:
A doctoral degree in psychology
Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology as required by the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychologists

A minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience received following the conferral of a doctoral degree
Five years full-time equivalent, post-licensure experience in hospital, clinic, school, or other relevant setting or ABPP Diploma and three years full-time post-licensure experience in hospital, clinic, school, or other relevant setting
